Location
Au Diable Vert is a pretty special place, not far from Sutton. It is located 120 km from Montreal which is about 1.5 h of driving. As they describe themselves it is a totally unique four-season outdoor center
Description
From the parking, you can reach your place by just walking there and carrying your stuff with a cart. Or to order a mini car (Delivery Service) to get your stuff to the place. The owners were able to organize camping sites, tree houses, and cute looking podes around a field.
The field is a pasture for highland cows. It has an electric fence to prevent them from moving out of this place. We’ve heard some crackling coming from the fence and even checked it 😉 During the day cows wander from one side to another, resting, eating, sometimes watching people staring at them.
And if it matters for you, Au Diable Vert is a dog-friendly place 🐶
What to do
Near the visitor center, there is a playground for kids with a beautiful view of the mountains for their parents 🙂 Also, you can go hiking. Due to covid-19, some trails were closed. As well as VeloVolant. But they still have had enough to offer: short walks, water activities with a possibility to rent a kayak or paddler board, fishing.
Hiking
As the “serious” trails were closed we made a tour around a pasture and took a lot of pictures of Highland cows 😀.
The walk is pretty short but it could take some time if you like staring at cows and have no other plans 😉 Our kids had chosen a few favorite ones, gave them names, and were coming to check on them in the morning, in the evening, and during the day.
Fishing
After a small walk, we went fishing. A river is a few minutes driving from the camping sites. The place was pretty crowded and we were very skeptical about any fish.
But if you have the appropriate equipment and good skills, nothing can stop you 😉
Evening
The previous day, just after we arrived, the rain came making everything more complex. Starting from setting up the tent to running out of dry socks for kids.
The second evening was perfect. We had used two bags of wood and enjoyed the night sky. Of course, our supper was enriched by baked fall fish 😉
Tomorrow will be heavy rain, starting in the morning. So, we appreciate every moment here and now 😍
