Summer road trip to Gaspesie.
It is up to you how to call it: stuck at home, limited by only one province (or state), and complain about closed borders due to covid-19 or consider it as a great opportunity to visit new places where you have never been before. We chose to explore our belle province more 🙂 And this trip is not our first road trip to Gaspesie but this time we had decided to plan it a bit differently and have a stop every 2 nights in another SEPAQ park.
So, there is a short summary of the Gaspesie road trip in 2020. For more details please watch the videos from all four stops.
First stop. Bic National park.
Good opportunity to see high and low tides and to try a new type of accommodation at the park – a yurt. And we can say, we loved it. Isn’t it cool? 🙃
It has a solar-powered light and a gas-powered full-size fridge.
On the first evening, we had a short walk on the beach near the yurt.
The next day we hiked Pic Champlain.
And walked on the beach in the high tide.
This place is perfect for paddlers.
We could spot the chanterelle mushrooms right near the trail.
The views are so different compared to what we’ve seen during the low tide. And, to be honest, I prefer the high tide scenery.
And which one do you prefer? 😉
Second stop. Gaspesie National Park.
Gaspesie National Park is the 2nd park we stayed in on our Gaspesie road trip. And this time we had a real “glamping” in a fully equipped chalet. And we have to admit it is damn convenient, especially with heavy rain outside 😉
The next day the weather gave us a perfect chance to hike Mont Jacque-Cartier. And we were grateful for it! Mont Jacque-Cartier is located in a protected area created to save caribou and help them to survive.
The landscape is amazing and breathtaking. With the clouds, it looks absolutely fantastic 😍
Third stop. Port-Daniel-Gascons
Port-Daniel-Gascons is the 3rd place on our road trip. We had Ready-to-Camp EXP to stay in. Made of some special material with wooden furniture inside, it has lights, a refrigerator, and a stove. Port-Daniel has a lot to offer but this time we decided to go for trout fishing. The bottom line: trout is not easy to catch fish. Each of us was able to catch a few small to medium trouts but they were lucky to escape before we pulled them on board. So we just took a few pictures which the fish who were not so fast and released them after 🙂 The wind forced us to paddle all the time, and at the end of fishing, we felt like we just came back from a difficult hike 🙂 But even so, now we even more determined to try trout fishing again ✌️
Fourth stop. Parc national du Lac-Témiscouata.
The 4th and the last park on our road trip is Parc national du Lac-Témiscouata. Not far from us there is a beautiful lake Témiscouata and we decided to go fishing. The fishing was so great! We got a bit more excited and relaxed than people in the canoe supposed to be. And in a blink of an eye, we flipped over with all our stuff floating around us. Fortunately, we all had lifejackets and this happened not far from the shore. We have been kayaking, canoeing for years and this happened to us for the first time. The cost we paid for this lesson is my cellphone, a fishing rod, and a few nice to have things. The lesson was great and there are many points to take away. And we for sure will! Be safe in your adventures! ❤️
