Location
The 4th and the last park on our road trip is Parc national du Lac-Témiscouata. It is almost 450 km and 4,5 hours of driving from our previous stop which was in Réserve faunique de Port-Daniel.
Accommodation
We had another type of ready-to-camp tent with electricity, an oven, a refrigerator, and even a heater.
The source of water is just near the tent.
Unforgettable fishing
There is a beautiful lake Témiscouata and we decided to go fishing. The fishing was so great! Indeed it was one of the best fishing we had so far. We caught 23 perches and lost probably more. And we thought it would be the main impression of this park. But as it turned out not 🙃 We got a bit more excited and relaxed than people in the canoe supposed to be. And in a blink of an eye, we flipped over with all our stuff floating around us. Together we managed to turn back and put inside of the canoe, still half-filled with water, our son. And slowly started heading to the shore.
After fishing
Our initial plan to have a hike after fishing had been changed. So, after disinfection the canoe (remember, the Covid time rules) in wet clothes, we grabbed a bag of wood and headed to our camp place. Fortunately, they have a shower and it was the first thing we took. On the first day at the park, we were told that we can swim in the lake but there is a high probability to get cercarial dermatitis. We decided not to, but as you can see we unintentionally did it ))) We didn’t have any issues with that but I think it is because we were “swimming” all dressed and not for a very long period of time. But honestly, it is the last thing I would be worried about 😉
So, this lake will be remembered as one where we caught a lot of fish and flipped over 🙃
Always stay safe and vigilant
Fortunately, we all had lifejackets and this happened not far from the shore. As it was not enough, just as we reached the ground, heavy rain had started. But for the first time in my life, I didn’t even move to find a place to hide. I was just standing near the water letting the rain wash out all my adrenaline. We have been kayaking, and canoeing for years and this happened to us for the first time. The cost we paid for this lesson is my cellphone, a fishing rod, and a few nice to have things. The lesson was great and there are many points to take away. And we for sure will! So, always stay safe and vigilant!
Heading home
Our trip is coming to the end. Tomorrow we are heading home but today we still have time to relax and appreciate the incredible moments we had on our adventure 🙏 ❤️
