Where to go?
Where to go for a winter hike? What to do in winter? A winter hike in Mont-Saint-Bruno National Park could be the right answer π Especially, if you live in Montreal and donβt want to drive far. Because the park is about 30 min driving from Montreal. With the all ongoing and recently announced indoor restrictions, this is a perfect place to breathe the freedom and health that mother nature generously gives us.
Winter hiking
As a winter hike in Mont-Saint Bruno National Park, you can take the longest trail: starting from 1, passing by every lake, including the outermost lake – Lac des Bouleaux, and come back by finishing the loop from the other side. Altogether it’s about 10 km.
Depending on the weather, you can stop in a small cabin with a wood stove near the Lac des Bouleaux and warm you up. Or treat yourself with a cup of chocolate milk on the trail.
As we’ve hiked more than once in this park, we’ve tried both options π And they are both perfectly fine. Last time we didn’t go inside the cabin. We were sipping a chai from Thermos with homemade gingerbread cookies right near resting kayaks with a view of the lake π
Throughout the park, you will see many animals’ tracks. Most of them belong to the whitetail deers.
But not all of them though π I’ve made some pictures and back home compared them with the pictures in the book. And they really look like coyotes prints …
Luckily we didn’t meet any of them. Instead, we were fortunate to meet a family of deers looking for something under the snow. Their baby-deer was very curious, as well as our human kid, so they spent some time together π (More in the video above)
Other activities
Also, the park offers fat-bike, sledding, and trails for cross-country skiing. Last time we wanted to try cross-country skiing there. But unfortunately, they didn’t have it before New Year, so we went for a hike. And were not disappointed once again π
No matter what kind of winter activities you love: skiing, skating, snowboarding, winter hiking, winter fishing, or just mulled wine π. This is only the beginning. We wish you and your families stay healthy and enjoy every moment of winter fun π β€οΈ π
